March Meet The Maker day 25.
I have not written about the type of music I enjoy too much. I love songs with a story and songs that connect people with others. I also use music as a tool to communicate with others and my aging mother. I learned to play guitar so I could play old-time gospel hymns first with her and now, at age 90, for her. I do play music in the studio at times, but many times in the studio I am now on Zoom calls, throwing with other makers, so music has not been a part of throwing for me for the last few months.
My favorites have changed depending on the mood. At times, I enjoy listening to The Piano Guys on quiet days, but way back, when I started throwing pots, I was a huge hair band fan. I enjoyed old-time bands like Cinderella, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Guns N' Roses, and Metallica, mostly the slower songs and ballads by these bands. There is just something about when metal bands slow it down that gets me every time.
Some of those songs I enjoy are "Heartbreak Station" by Cinderella, "November Rain" and "Estranged" by Guns N' Roses, and "Unforgiven I, II, and III" by Metallica. "Unforgiven III" especially has this beautiful piano intro at the beginning. I also tend to enjoy "Bleeding Me" and "Nothing Else Matters." By Bon Jovi, it would be "Always," "Never Say Goodbye," "Thank You for Loving Me," and "Wanted Dead or Alive." For Def Leppard, it would be "Bring on the Heartbreak," "Too Late for Love," and "Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad?" Other bands I enjoy are Linkin Park, Disturbed, and The Cranberries.
Having grown up on old-time country, I love almost anything by Hank Williams Sr., Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, and others. I'm also a huge fan of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson. Mostly, these songs remind me of my time back home with my family and relatives. Before the internet and social media, music played a big part in their lives as they drove to the barn or to the hayfield as farmers. Aunt Barb loved the Judds.
I also have playlists sent by my friends. For the most part, I enjoy listening to almost anything to give it a try. Music can play a large role in creating and making the environment enjoyable. Currently, I have been listening to more piano music, as it is relaxing to throw pots and write to. I have been enjoying piano renditions of pop songs. Everything here appears to be mixed up a little. I’ll also throw in Adel. I can’t forget about her. What are you listening to when you create? Let me know!

If I were living yesterday a second time, I would have:
Started the dailies earlier. I missed one because I was making pots after work.
Things I am grateful for:
I have the day off from the paper factory to make pots.
If I get to live to be 86, I only have:
13105 days left.
Check out Claire Kelly and South for Winter.
